Build one step by step

From an empty editor to a finished, printable big east tourney bracket.

  1. 1

    Add your teams

Type each team or player into the editor, or paste a whole list at once. Single elimination works for 4 up to 64 names.

  2. 2

    Set the seeding

Order matters. Seed 1 should be your strongest team. The editor pairs seed 1 against the bottom seed, 2 against the next, so the top two can only meet in the final.

  3. 3

    Generate the bracket

Hit Generate. If your team count is not a power of two, the top seeds get first-round byes automatically so the bracket still ends with one champion.

  4. 4

    Score the games

Type a score into each match. The winner advances to the next round on its own, all the way to the final.

  5. 5

    Print or share

Pick landscape or portrait, then print to PDF. Or save the bracket and share the link so everyone follows along.

About

About this format

The Big East Tournament is the Big East Conference's end-of-season championship. Every team in, single-elimination, played over a long week in March. The prize isn't just a trophy. The winner gets the conference's automatic bid to March Madness, which is why a so-so regular season can be rescued by one hot week. The Big East tournament has lived at Madison Square Garden for decades. It is the conference's signature week. With 11 teams the bracket isn't a clean power of two, so the top 5 seeds get first-round byes, and the regular-season favorites usually skip the opening days entirely. Fill in your seeding and print the wallchart.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why do the top Big East seeds get a bye?

Because 11 isn't a power of two. The bracket rounds up to 16 slots and hands first-round byes to the top 5 seeds, the same way the real tournament rewards a strong regular season by letting the top seeds skip the opening days.

What does the conference tournament winner get?

The conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament: a guaranteed spot in March Madness, no matter what the selection committee makes of their résumé. For a bubble team, winning the conference tournament is the safe way in.
