About this format
15 teams sits one short of a clean 16. Only the top seed gets a bye; everyone else plays round one. Fifteen-team brackets, the ACC tournament's size, a 16-team field that lost a team. Because 15 isn't a power of two, the bracket rounds up to 16 slots. The top 1 seed get a bye into round 2, and the rest pair off in round 1. Seeding goes 1 vs the bottom seed, 2 vs the second-lowest, with the top two on opposite halves so they can only meet in the final.
